1. The research structure within the NICT and the Testbed Research and Development Promotion Center

As a result of changes to the organizational structure of the NICT in FY2011, it was decided that the research and development of "StarBED³" should be carried out nationwide across Japan by the same team as for the new-generation network testbed "JGN-X."  With this change, we hope that synergies will be achievable from the organic fusion of the testbeds.
We would like to hold the expansion of the ICT environment in the future by continuing to pursue our R&D activities even further around the core of a JGN-X and StarBED³ integrated testbed.  Consequently, we are aiming to promote the research and development activities of NICT by coordinating with the network research headquarters in NICT.

2. The Research Structure beyond the Organization

The Hokuriku StarBED Technology Center conducts R&D activities not just within its own organization but also jointly in combination with many external organizations.  As a result, it is making progress with the construction and operation of its testbeds based on the feedback received from the related organizations.
We aim to provide a more effective experiment platform and deal with testbed users from various fields by promoting research on several topics as shown in the figure on the right.
